Microsoft Edge Setup

Microsoft Edge is very protective of its default Bing New Tab page. To use ZenStack, you need to manually approve it.

Step 1: Install

Click “Get” on the Microsoft Edge Add-ons store.

Step 2: Enable the extension

Once installed, Edge might disable it by default. You will see a banner saying “ZenStack has been turned off to protect your settings.”

Click the button that says “Turn on extension”.

Step 3: The “Is this the page you wanted?” popup

When you open your first new tab, Edge asks if you want to keep ZenStack or switch back to Microsoft News.

Select “Keep Changes”.

Importing Bookmarks

ZenStack is designed to work with your existing data so you don’t have to start from scratch.

Your browser bookmarks

Your existing folders appear in the sidebar under Native bookmarks: Bookmarks bar and Other bookmarks. Open either one to browse it without leaving the new tab.

Automatic import

On the very first run, ZenStack detects your “Bookmarks Bar” folder and attempts to create a “Quick Links” board for you automatically.

Manual import

If you skipped the initial setup:

1. Open the sidebar (left side of the screen).
2. Locate your “Other bookmarks” or “Bookmarks bar” folder under Native bookmarks.
3. Drag and drop a folder onto your board to turn it into a category.

From a backup file

Click Backup & Restore in the sidebar and choose Import from File. Importing merges new boards and links without deleting your existing bookmarks. Export to File saves your boards as a JSON file you can move to another browser.

Boards & Categories

ZenStack uses a Kanban-style layout. A board holds categories, each category holds links, and you can drag any of them to rearrange.

Creating a board

Click + New Board in the sidebar and give it a name, such as “Work” or “Research”.

Adding categories

Use the + button in the board toolbar for an empty category, or open Categories to add a curated pack such as Essentials, AI tools, Dev, Design, News or Finance.

Adding links

• Right-click: Right-click a page or a link and choose Save page to ZenStack or Save link to ZenStack, then pick a board.
• Toolbar: Click the ZenStack icon in the browser toolbar to save the page you’re on.
• Drag & drop: Drop a link on a board in the sidebar to file it under Unassigned, then sort it later.

Finding and undoing

Press Ctrl K to search every board and ticker. Deleted items go to Trash in the sidebar, and most actions offer a one-click undo.

Stocks & Watchlists

A watchlist is a category that shows a live price, the day’s change and a sparkline for each ticker.

Adding a watchlist

Open Stocks in the board toolbar. Choose New watchlist to start empty, or Stock presets to add a ready-made list such as Magnificent 7, AI & Chips, ETFs or Crypto.

International symbols

Use the Yahoo Finance symbol: SHOP.TO for Toronto, RELIANCE.NS for NSE India, BTC-USD for crypto. Prices are shown in the symbol’s own currency.

The market bar

The bar at the top of the page shows the S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, Dow and your portfolio’s day. Turn it on or off in Customize > Show > Market bar.

Extended hours (Pro)

Open the Stocks menu and tick Extended hours for pre-market and after-hours prices, or Overnight for overnight quotes.

Portfolio

Track what you hold and see its live value and profit on your new tab, without opening a broker.

Creating a portfolio

1. Click + Create Portfolio in the sidebar.
2. Click Add Holding and enter the symbol with your shares and average cost.
3. Repeat for each holding. Drag rows to reorder them.

Reading the numbers

The header shows the total portfolio value and today’s change. Each row shows the price, the day’s change, the value you hold, and both the day’s and the all-time profit or loss.

Currencies

Each holding is shown in its own currency. Pick the currency for the totals from the menu in the portfolio header: USD, CAD, INR, EUR or GBP.

Hiding values

Click the eye button in the portfolio header to hide amounts when someone else can see your screen.

Themes & Wallpaper

Make ZenStack your own. Click Customize at the top right of the new tab; it has three tabs.

Style

• Accent: the highlight colour used across the page.
• Glass: slide between Clear and Frosted panels.
• Layout: density (Compact, Medium or Roomy) and text size.

Wallpaper

• Live: illustrated scenes such as Halo and Currents, and photo scenes such as Whispering Forest and Aurora Peaks. Set the time of day, motion and quality underneath.
• Photos: a fresh photo on every new tab, or your own image from a URL.
• Solid: a plain colour of your choice.

Wallpapers with “Light” in the name, such as Halo Light, switch the whole page to a light theme.

Show

Turn parts of the page on or off: the quick links bar, market bar, greeting, favicons, stock sparklines, and the native bookmarks and portfolio sections of the sidebar.

On-device AI (Pro)

The AI menu in the board toolbar tidies a board for you. It runs on Chrome’s built-in model (Gemini Nano), so your links never leave your computer.

What it does

• Organize Unassigned: sorts the links in Unassigned into categories.
• Clean up titles: turns long or messy link titles into readable names.

You review the result first. Nothing changes until you click Apply.

Requirements

You need a version of Chrome that supports built-in AI. The first time you use it, Chrome asks to download the model once (about 2 GB).

Syncing Data

ZenStack is built on top of the native Chrome/Edge bookmark system. This means we do not store your data on our servers. It lives in your browser.

How to sync across computers

To see your ZenStack boards on both your home and work computer:

1. Ensure you are signed into the browser (Chrome or Edge) with the same email account.
2. Enable “Sync” in your browser settings.
3. Ensure “Bookmarks” are checked in the Sync settings.

Once your browser syncs the bookmark data, ZenStack automatically updates to reflect the changes on the other device.

Pro & Billing

ZenStack Pro is a one-time Founders lifetime price for early users. Payments are handled by Stripe, our secure payment processor.

Upgrading

1. Open a new tab to see ZenStack.
2. Click Get Pro at the bottom of the sidebar.
3. Choose Get Lifetime Pro, or start the 7-day free trial. The trial needs no card.

Receipts and payment details

Once you are Pro, the same sidebar button reads Lifetime Pro. Click it to open the Stripe customer portal, where you can download invoices and update your details.

Pro isn’t showing after payment

Close the new tab and open another one. Pro is linked to the email of the browser profile you are signed in to, so make sure it is the profile you paid from. If it still shows Get Pro, contact us and we’ll sort it out.

Refunds & Cancellations

Cancellation

The Founders lifetime price is a single payment, so there is nothing to cancel. If you have an earlier monthly or yearly subscription, you can cancel it at any time from the Stripe customer portal; your Pro features remain active until the end of the billing period.

Refund policy

We offer a 7-day money-back guarantee if you are not satisfied with ZenStack Pro. If something isn’t working right, please contact us first so we can try to fix it!

To request a refund, please use the Support Form and select “Support Request”.

Extension Not Showing?

If you installed ZenStack but you still see the default Google or Bing page when opening a new tab, follow these steps:

1. Check if it’s enabled

Go to your browser’s extension manager (chrome://extensions) and ensure ZenStack is toggled ON.

2. Check for conflicts

Browsers only allow one extension to control the New Tab page at a time. If you have other extensions like “Momentum” or “Earth View” installed, they might be overriding ZenStack.

Try disabling other New Tab extensions to see if ZenStack appears.
